Tips to keep in mind when designing or choosing a Team Building Activity

- Keep it brief: Activities should be engaging but not overly time consuming. Aim for activities that last no more than 30 minutes.
- Encourage collaboration: Focus on activities that require teamwork and cooperation. This helps build trust and improves communication among team members.

Ice Breakers
Ice breakers are a fantastic way to kick off meetings and help team members get to know each other better. These activities are designed to be fun and engaging and help to lighten the atmosphere. Whether you're working in-person or remotely, large or small groups, the selection of ice breakers will energize your team and set a positive tone.
Tips to keep in mind when designing or choosing an Ice Breaker

- Keep it brief: Ice breaker activities should last no more than 10 minutes.
- Make them FUN: Make the environment relaxing, the best ice breakers are ones that people talk about after the fact. Don't make it “work”
- Choose the right one: It depends on the size of the group, reason for meeting and/or audience. Don't use a one shoe fits all approach!
Two truths and a lie
Go around the room and have each team member share three “facts” about themselves, two of the facts being true and one of the facts being a lie. The group has to guess which one is a lie. This activity is a clever way to get everyone to share interesting facts about themselves.
Supplies needed: None
Candy Questions
This activity is for those teams that have sweet tooth’s. Get a variety of candy bars, 5-6+ however many team members are going to be in the meeting. Have each team member take a candy bar of their choosing. After they chose their candy bar, show them a list of questions associated with each candy bar or read off the candy bar with the associated question.
Examples:
Twix: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
KitKat: If you were a superhero, what would be your superpower and why?
M&M's: What's your favorite movie and why?

Guess Who
During your townhall or morning meeting, ask team members to write down a fun fact about themselves. Have them fold their papers and place them in a central spot like a bucket or basket. At the end of the meeting, pass the papers around and have each person read one of the facts aloud, then guess who it belongs to. Those who guess correctly receive a special treat!
Supplies needed: Paper, pens, basket/bucket,

Ball toss
Start a ball toss before morning meeting to get everyone talking and laughing. Throw a ball to someone in the room and have them share their favorite condiment. Seems silly, right? That’s exactly the intent. It will get people talking about likes and dislikes.
Supplies needed: Blow up beach ball or something soft to throw
Team Vision Board
A team vision board is more than just a creative exercise, it's a powerful tool for aligning goals, strengthening collaboration, and inspiring collective purpose. When team members come together to visualize their shared aspirations, it fosters unity, motivation, and a deeper sense of ownership in their work.

Once you’ve decided to move forward, choose a format that fits your team:

- Creative & Hands-On: Poster board with magazines, markers, and glue.
- Digital & Collaborative: Shared Canva or Google Slides board.
- Quick & Simple: Sticky note wall or themed bulletin board.
Poster Board Party
This is probably the most popular vision board activities. Schedule a casual team gathering outside of morning meeting or stad down where everyone can contribute images, words or drawings that represent their goals, values and hopes for the team. Encourage department managers to work on it with their teams, leaving it accessible to team members to work on throughout the day or week. Once complete, display the finished board in a shared space as a visual reminder of the team's vision or goals for the month or year.
Supplies Needed: Magazines, scissors, glue sticks, markers, stickers and at least one large poster board.
Interactive Poster or Bulletin Board
Create a dedicated space where team members can contribute sticky notes, photos, or drawings. Keep the board fresh and engaging by updating the theme monthly, consider aligning it with your IMPACT board. Place the board in an area accessible to everyone, like near the time clock or in the break room.
Themes to consider:

"What Inspires Me”-Staff can post quotes, photos, or drawings of what motivates them personally or professionally.

“Gratitude Wall”-A space to post what they’re thankful for

“If I Could…”- A fun prompt like “If I could have any superpower…” or “If I could travel anywhere…”

“Vision for the Future”- Staff can share hopes or ideas for how they’d like to grow personally or as a team.

Digital Vision Board
Each team member adds a slide or section with images, quotes, or goals. Combine them into one cohesive digital board. Use it as a screensaver in common areas or share it during team meetings such as town hall.

Canva- Create a free account, in the template search bar search for “Vision Board” to explore ready made templates. Add a title or theme “Team Goals 2025” or "Vision of the Month"." Use the “Elements” or “Photo” tab to add images. Click “Share” and invite team members to contribute in real time.

Padlet- Create a free account, click “Make a Padlet” and choose a layout like “Canvas” or “Wall” for a vision board format. Add a title or theme, use the “+” button to add images, quotes, or drawings. Click “Share” and invite team members to contribute in real time.
